CayFilm 2017 – A Weekend to Remember

Arts & Culture |

CayFilm 2017 wrapped up this weekend at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman with a Pixar themed awards ceremony and celebration.  This year’s theme was Film, Food and Fashion and co-founders Tony and Jennifer Mark delivered in spades.  We were so thrilled to attend this year’s festival and meet so many new friends.  We were truly inspired by James V. Hart’s creativity, infectious love for life and dedication to Cayman’s environmental protection.  We were wowed by local fashion designers, including our friend Isy B., who showcased fabulous new evening gown designs.  We dined in style at an extraordinary meal prepared by Chef Eric Ripert himself and even got to have our own “red carpet moment”. Hence the fabulous photo of LCV’s very own Molly Thomas, captured by Irene Corti of Deep Blue Images. It was a weekend to remember for everyone involved.

The Cayman International Film Festival is an annual multi-day spectacular event that promotes the Cayman Islands as a world-class filming destination and incredible place to visit and do business. Included in the festival is daily film screenings, question and answer sessions with filmmakers, panel discussions, workshops, exclusive premiere screenings, and a celebrity gala event.

Also falling under the CayFilm umbrella is the newly developed the Cayman Media Academy (CMA), which offers classes and qualifications to students wishing to further their education in different film related studies with the eventual goal of a offering full-time degrees.

Stay tuned for CayFilm 2018 details in the coming months!
