This Fall Celebrate Thanksgiving Cayman Style!

Holidays |

Fall and early winter are fabulous times to visit Grand Cayman.  The weather is amazing as the humidity begins to drop, the island is quieter this time of year, and local festivities are in full gear with 3 separate Thanksgiving celebrations.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to fully immerse yourself in island culture.

Canadian Thanksgiving – October 7th – 9th 2017

Not only can you escape the increasingly cold weather in Canada, but you can enjoy Canadian Thanksgiving festivities at local bars and restaurants throughout the island or give Restaurant Month a try.

Cayman Restaurant Month is designed to give you the opportunity throughout the month of October to dine at some of Cayman’s best restaurants at the best possible prices. Participating restaurants have created delicious 2-course and 3-course lunches and 3-course dinners (with wine pairing available at select restaurants) starting at just CI$10 for lunch and CI$25 for dinner.  Click on the link above to learn more!

American Thanksgiving – November 23th, 2017

This is the perfect time to celebrate with family and friends in your very own private villa in the Cayman Islands.  With Christmas soon approaching, there is a ton to do at this time of year, both for adults and kids, so there will always be something on the agenda.

Arrive on island the week before Thanksgiving and catch the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Camana Bay held on November 18th (a free event for locals and tourists alike). A giant Christmas tree decorated with thousands of fairy lights is switched on at Camana Bay by Santa himself. Enjoy the carol singing and the Christmas market.

Stay thru December 2nd and enjoy Cayman 27’s Parade of Lights, an evening of celebration as beautifully lit boats sail into the harbor in Camana Bay. Enjoy food, drink, a Christmas market, live music and a fireworks display from 6pm-8pm.  Ask your Concierge for more info!

Cayman Thanksgiving- First weekend in December 2017

Cayman Thanksgiving is a celebration of unity of the three islands (Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman) and their long standing cultural heritage, observed annually on the first Sunday in December.  It is an opportunity for the Caymanian community to express gratitude, mark the passage of the hurricane season and celebrate local Caymanian traditions.

Festivities for Cayman Thanksgiving commence on the weekend preceding the first Sunday in December with family worship services, food markets, culinary competitions, live music, and themed dinners at participating restaurants.

The organizers use this an opportunity to preserve the Caymanian culture, empower families to keep their long-standing traditions and celebrate the spirit of humility, kindness and service that makes the Cayman Islands such a special place to live and visit.

The celebration is also great opportunity to spend quality time with family, meeting locals and experience “Caymankind” hospitality.
