Career Opportunity—Duty Engineer

Luxury Cayman Villas is seeking a talented, service-oriented Caymanian or RERC holder to join a fast-paced, energetic family deeply dedicated to creating a luxury hospitality experience and growing a new caliber of vacation rental in the Cayman Islands.

 

Responsibilities

As our new Duty Engineer, you would be responsible for:

  • conducting regular inspections at properties to ensure property, grounds, physical plant and work areas are maintained to standard, ensuring proactive maintenance and upkeep;
  • coordinating the planned preventive maintenance program (PPM) for properties, public areas and safety systems, working closely with internal departments;
  • ensuring prompt and immediate responses to maintenance requests from guests, staff and management of the properties;
  • working with contractors and trades for outsourced maintenance projects as needed;
  • working with contractors and trades carrying out maintenance work on products, finishes, physical plant and equipment;
  • regularly testing electrical and fire safety equipment for compliance with health and safety regulations;
  • ensuring all projects, including, but not limited to, routine maintenance, repairs, replacement and renovation projects, are completed on time and according to specifications;
  • working alongside Rooms Division team members to ensure exceptional guest service;
  • reporting all maintenance issues to the Engineering Supervisor;
  • inspecting maintenance work completed by external vendors and reporting project completion, delays and deficiencies to the Engineering Supervisor;
  • providing on-call after hours maintenance support and responding to after-hours service calls as needed;
  • monitoring and refilling stock levels of parts and other maintenance supplies;
  • overseeing waste disposal and recycling; and
  • logging all maintenance requests;
  • performing additional responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • at least 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, luxury home construction, or an equivalent field with an emphasis in refrigeration and electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment and systems;
  • a high school diploma or equivalent vocational technical training.
  • solid written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • a commitment to excellence;

  • a calm demeanor, even in a crisis;
  • a respect for diversity and an appreciation for differences in culture, language, background, and way of life;
  • previous experience in a luxury hospitality or other customer-service environment attending to the needs of demanding clients or customers;
  • the ability to independently prioritize and organize work assignments, work well under pressure, and deal with large volume and variety of requests, while maintaining attention to detail and exercising good judgment;
  • solid computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Google Apps;
  • a demonstrated ability to work well with others;
  • experience working in a demanding, entrepreneurial, start-up environment;
  • a willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays;
  • a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; and
  • the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull and/or place objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
